3rd West Asian for Billiard Sports 2014 - Doha, QATAR

Qatar has held the West Asian Championship for Billiard Sports from 21st to 28th of February 2014.
This tournament is held annually in West Asian Countries and Most of these countries participated to the event.
The championship comprised of 6 competitions:
1- Snooker Single
2- Snooker Team
3- Snooker 6-Reds
4- Pool-Billiard 8-Balls
5- Pool-Billiard 9-Balls
6- Pool-Billiard Scotch Double
The tournament was sponsored by QAFAC (Qatar Fuel Additive Company), WIRAKA the manufacturer of all West Asian tournaments Pool-Billiard & Snooker Tables, Hainsworth and SIMONIS (Textile companies).
The tournament had intense matches between most of the West Asian fines Pool and Snooker players from Iran, UAE, Qatar, Oman, KSA, Kuwait, Lebanon, Palastine, and Iraq.

13 Countries to Compete in Billiards and Snooker at Fujairah Concorde Hotel

Concorde Location The spacious ballroom of the Fujairah Concorde Hotel has been selected as the venue for the Second West Asian Billiards and Snooker Championship from 14-20 January 2012.
High Participation The number of participating countries in the upcoming Second West Asian Championships has received a boost and has now gone up to thirteen with the late entries submitted by Lebanon, ensuring a 100 per cent representation of the region in the event. This was announced by the UAE Billiards & Snooker Association Secretary-General Sultan Al Joakar (pictured in centre) at a well-attended press conference on Tuesday at the Concorde Fujairah Hotel, the venue for the tournament. Apparel Group Chairman Nilesh Ved (left) and Mohamed Fekry (right), General Manager of the Concorde Fujairah Hotel also addressed the press conference in their capacity as sponsor and host of the tournament. 60+ Contestants The championships being sponsored by Club Apparel will see more than 60 top players from the 13 West Asian nations compete for the gold medals in the snooker singles, snooker team and the 8- and 9-ball pool singles events. The participating countries are Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Yemen and the hosts United Arab Emirates.
Strong Field The Iranians are likely to put up a tough challenge having in their ranks the reigning world amateur champion Hossein Vafaei Ayouri. Iraq and Bahrain are both fresh from capturing a gold medal apiece at the 2011 Arab Games in Doha and Syria are also capable to springing surprises in any given encounter. The members of the UAE snooker team for the West Asian Championships are Eissa Ali Sayed, Salem Ali Salem, Khalid Kamali, Ahmed Abdul Qader, Abdur Rahman Saif and Abdullah Al Attar. The members of the UAE pool squad are Salah Al Rimawi, Hani Al Hori, Ali Saeed and Amin Fikri.

The 1st West Asian Championship

Al-Jazirah - Riyadh: The first west asian championship for pool games kicks off on monday evening in riyadh madarim hotel in the presence of the retired Bridger Mr. Hassan Abu Aish and the members of WABSF. The presedent of WABSF Mr. Hassan Abu Aish opened the tournament with a speech in which he offered his thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Sultan Bin Fahad Al-Saoud, the president of the youth and his Deputy Prince Nawaf Bin Faisal on the support and consent to embrace this championship in the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia. On the other hand the federation of Saudia Arabia for billiards and snooker has honored the Executive manager of the official sponsor ( Ghazali Trading Company ) Mr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al-Abdullatif. The first round of the tournament witnessed many confrontations in 8-Balls, Where Basim Aboud from Syria beat Mohammed Alberjawi from Libanon scored 7-5, Khalid Almutairi from Kuwait beat Fahad Alhejaili from Saudia scored 7-5, and Ahmed Hassan from Iraq beat Ali Mohamed Alhazmi from KSA 7-2, Mohammed Omer from Bahrain beat Mohamed Alhosani from UAE scored 7-3, Hassan Jraih from Syria beat Ali Sabri from Iraq scored 7-6, Mazin Alberjawi from Libanon beat Ali Abdullah Al-Amodi from KSA scored 7-4, Majed Al-Azmi from Kuwait beat Salah Al-Rimawi from UAE and scored 7-0, Nayef Abdulghafor from Jordan beat Ahmed Al-Minshawi from Palestine. In snooker competition Mohamed Shihab from UAE beat Ali Habib Al-Sabah from Bahrain and scored 4-1, Ahmed Sarhan from KSA beat Khalid Farah from Palestine and scored 4-2, Omer Algoja from Syria beat Ahmed Al-Osairi from KSA and scored 4-1, Ahmed Saif from Qatar beat Abdulrahman Al-Ammar from KSA and scored 4-1, Karam Fatmah from Syria beat Ali Ehab Hassan from Iraq and scored 4-0, Abdulraouf from KSA beat Ali Abdulmohsin Khamis from Qatar and scored 4-2, Abdullah Alkandri from Kuwait beat Ali Ehsan Haidri from Iran and scored 4-0, Mohammed Aljokar from UAE beat Malik Alberjawi from from Libanon and scored 4,0.
